Ford is providing scholarships for students to study on a selection of engineering and science programmes.
Scholarships
You may be eligible for a scholarship in addition to finance available through a student loan.
Our scholarships are supported by generous donors who share our pride in student achievement.
Donor Funded Scholarships 2012
We are offering 100 Scholarships, under three main schemes:
- Donor Funded Scholarships: (£3,000 per year, excluding placement years)
- The Roper Scholarships: (£1,000 per year, excluding placement years)
- The Eliahou Dangoor Scholarships: (£1,000 for the first year of study in Science, Technology, Maths or Engineering subjects)
If you are a UK student starting with us in 2012 and your Student Support income assessment indicates to us that your household income is £42,000 or less, you may be eligible to apply for one of our Donor Funded Scholarships. After you have registered, you will be invited by email to apply if you meet the following eligibility criteria:
- you are a full-time UK home student for fees purposes
- your Student Finance Household income assessment is £42,000 or less
- you have AAB or equivalent
- you are not in receipt of a Bath Fee Waiver, Bursary, National Scholarship Programme or other University of Bath Scholarship.
- we have received your scholarship application by 7 January 2013

Bath Engineering Excellence Scholarships - Chemical Engineering »
Chemical Engineering | Undergraduate
Scholarships of £2000 per academic year are available for overseas fee paying students in the Department of Chemical Engineering, awarded on the basis of academic merit.
BEng students could receive a total award of up to £6,000 and MEng students up to £8,000. Self-financing international students with an A grade in A-level Maths or equivalent will receive a £2000 reduction in fees for each academic year of their undergraduate programme, provided their academic performance remains at the 2.1 level (60 %) or higher.
Equivalent A level qualifications include a 7.0 at higher level in the International Baccalaureate or 75 % in Mathematics on a recognised Foundation Year.
All applicants who meet the eligibility criteria will be automatically considered for an award. Eligibility includes choosing Bath as their firm choice through UCAS and fulfilling the overall conditions of the academic offer.

Choral Scholarships at Bath Abbey »

Students may receive up to £1,800 per year to sing in Bath Abbey Choir.

The Chris Allen Sports Scholarship »
All subject areas | Undergraduate
Funded by alumnus Chris Allen (BSc Hons Economics, 1985) this scholarship awards £1,000 a year for three years of study. Open to UK undergraduates, the scholarship is for academically able students who have considerable potential in one of a number of specified team sports.
While studying for their degree the scholarship recipients will participate in a programme to develop their sporting potential, which will be managed by the University’s Sports Development Department.

Electronic & Electrical Engineering | Undergraduate
Established by Electronic & Electrical Engineering alumni, the Hertzian Fund provides a scholarship of £1,000 for each year of study (excluding placement) to a student with academic potential and limited financial resources.

Engineering | Undergraduate
Funded by The James Dyson Foundation, this scholarship of £6,000 is awarded to an individual demonstrating passion and a flair for engineering design. Geographical criteria apply.
The John Barr Scholarships »
MEng | Third year students
Funded by the Schlumberger Stonehouse Technology Centre, these two scholarships are designed to recognise and motivate female students studying specified subjects who are part way through their MEng degrees.
Applicants must be:
- female
- full-time students
- UK citizens
- enrolled for a MEng degree in either Mechanical or Electronic & Electrical Engineering (including the IMEE option)
- entering the penultimate year of their degree programme in the next academic year.
The scholarships each have a total value of £1000 with £500 paid in the penultimate year of your degree and (subject to satisfactory academic performance) a further £500 paid in the final year of your degree. Selection is primarily based on academic merit.

Bursaries of up to £3,000 per annum will be granted to full-time, UK undergraduate students and £5,000 per annum to full-time, UK postgraduate students who are in financial need and the son, daughter or partner of a chemist, grocer or commercial traveller.

The Lisa May Scholarship »
All subject areas | Undergraduate
Funded by alumnus John May (Dip Industrial Administration 1970) this Scholarship will will award £3,000 for three years of study. It is open to UK and EU undergraduate students studying any subject, resident in the UK and required to pay home tuition fees and awarded on the grounds of academic merit to an applicant who can also demonstrate challenging family or financial circumstances which may otherwise prevent them from attending university.
The Scholarship is named after the donor's daughter, who died in the Asian tsunami of 2005 aged 25.
The Mercer Scholarship »
BA (Hons) European Studies and Modern Languages | Current students
Funded by alumnus Richard Roberts, and named in honour of his maternal grandparents, this scholarship is awarded annually to a student who is currently completing the first year of a BA (Hons) European Studies and Modern Languages degree.
The scholarship is to recognise the contribution made by the applicant to the Department of European Studies and Modern Languages, to the University and to the wider community. Applicants must attain a 2.1 grade average or above in year 1 of their degree.
The Scholarship has an annual value of £1000 and, subject to meeting certain conditions, is paid for three years (including time spent abroad meeting degree requirements).

The Mitch Moore Business Administration Scholarship »
BSc Business Administration | Undergraduate
Funded by alumnus Mitch Moore, a 1985 BSc Business Administration graduate, this scholarship will award £3,000 for each year of study (including placements). It is open to undergraduate students studying for the BSc degree in Business Administration and will be awarded on the basis of academic merit and financial need. The award is restricted to UK students paying home tuition fees.

BEng or MEng Electronic & Electrical Engineering | Undergraduate
This scholarship of £1,000 per year for four years has been donated by Nick Wood (BSc Electrical & Electronic Engineering, 1988) and will support a UK student studying on the BEng or MEng programme in Electronic & Electrical Engineering (including the IMEE programme) who demonstrates leadership potential.
The Ratcliffe Scholarship »
Physics, Mathematical Science or Computer Science | Undergraduate
Funded by alumni Martyn and Fiona Ratcliffe (BSc Applied Physics, 1983 and Humanities & Social Sciences, 1982) this scholarship will award £3,225 for each year of study excluding placement. It is open to undergraduate students studying degrees in Physics, Mathematical Science or Computer Science and is awarded on the basis of financial need and academic merit. The awards are restricted to students resident in the UK required to pay home tuition fees whose joint parental income is less than £50,000 per year.
R B & S E Whorrod Bursaries »
Integrated Mechanical and Electrical Engineering | Undergraduate
Two awards of £1500 per year of study (excluding placement years) will be awarded to any UK citizen who has been made a conditional offer to start on the undergraduate Integrated Mechanical and Electrical Engineering (IMEE) programme in the Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering.
The bursary is made possible through the generosity of former University of Bath student Roger Whorrod and his wife Sue. The Whorrods are very aware of the financial costs involved in studying at university today and are keen to encourage students who aspire to continue on to higher education at university level, especially where family finances may be difficult or where there is not a family history of going to university.

Engineering, Physics or Mathematics | Undergraduate
Bursaries up to £2,000 per year are available for up to 4 years (excluding placement) to undergraduates with limited financial resources studying Engineering, Physics or Mathematics, and whose home address is within a 40 mile radius of Frome, Somerset.
The Shane Francis Aherne Scholarship »
All subject areas | Undergraduate
Applications for this scholarship are restricted to student from Bishop Stopford School, Kettering. The scholarship supports those who reflect the ideals of graduate Shane Aherne (in whose memory it is awarded), of academic excellence and sporting enthusiasm. The scholarship is for a maximum of £1,000 per year (excluding time spent on placement).

There are a number of sports scholarships available. Through the Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme you could be eligible for support costs worth up to £3,000.
