Department, organisation and sport scholarships

Scholarships may be targeted at specific subjects and talent areas. In some cases you may be required to make an independent application, for others you will be nominated for an award by your academic department.

Bath Engineering Excellence Scholarships - Chemical Engineering »
Chemical Engineering | International undergraduate

Scholarships of £2,000 per academic year are available for overseas fee paying students in the Department of Chemical Engineering, awarded on the basis of academic merit.

BEng students could receive a total award of up to £6,000 during their degree programme and MEng students up to £8,000. Students will retain the award for each year of study provided their academic performance remains at the 2.1 level (60 %) or higher.

Eligibility criteria:

  • You must be a self-financing undergraduate international student in the Department of Chemical OR Electronic Engineering.
  • The University of Bath must be your firm choice in your UCAS application.
  • You must achieve A grade in A Level Maths or equivalent (7.0 at higher level in the International Baccalaureate or 75% in Mathematics on a recognised Foundation Year).
  • You must meet any other criteria stated in your offer letter.
  • You must maintain academic performance at 2.1 level (60%) or higher throughout your degree course.

All applicants who meet the eligibility criteria in full will be automatically considered for an award.

Electronic & Electrical Engineering | International undergraduate

Scholarships of £2,000 per academic year are available for overseas fee paying students in the Department of Electronic & Electrical Engineering, awarded on the basis of academic merit.

Science | International undergraduates

Scholarships of £2,000 per academic year are available for students who are personally responsible for paying their tuition fee at the overseas rate. They are awarded on the basis of academic merit.

Awards will total £6,000 for a three-year (BSc) programme and £8,000 for undergraduate Masters’ programmes (MChem, MComp, MSci, MNatSci, MPharmacol, MPhys).

Eligibility criteria:

  • You must be a self-financing undergraduate international student studying a three-year BSc course or MChem, MComp, MSci, MNatSci, MPharmacol or MPhys.
  • The University of Bath must be your firm choice in your UCAS application.
  • You must meet the academic criteria below, as well as any additional criteria specified in your offer letter.
  • You must maintain academic performance at 2.1 level (60%) or higher throughout your degree course.

The academic criteria for degrees offered in each department will be:

Biology & Biochemistry Three A Levels at AAA (or equivalent) including the subjects specified in the offer.
Chemistry Three A Levels at AAA (or equivalent) including Chemistry and Mathematics.
Computer Science Three A Levels at AAA (or equivalent) including A in Mathematics.
Natural Sciences Three A Levels at A*AA (or equivalent) including A* in a science subject.
Pharmacology Three A Levels at AAA (or equivalent) including the subjects specified in the offer.
Physics Three A Levels at AAA (or equivalent) including Physics and Mathematics.

Equivalent qualifications for Grade A at A Level include a 7.0 at higher level in the International Baccalaureate or over 75% in the appropriate subject on a recognised Foundation Year.

All applicants who meet the eligibility criteria in full will be automatically considered for an award.

Lloyds Scholars »
All subjects | UK/EU undergraduate

As a Lloyds scholar you would be eligible to receive a bursary of £1,000 to help with living costs and study materials.

You will also have support from a mentor, the chance to attend workshops, events and lectures run by the Lloyds Banking Group.

£5,000 per academic year, excluding placement years.

Open to UK, EU and international students studying selected STEM (science, technology, engineering and management) courses.

Engineering | Undergraduate

£1,000 in Year 1, 2 and 3

£,2000 in final (4th) year

Eligibility criteria:

  • Open to UK undergraduate students who can demonstrate a passion and flair for engineering design. All engineering courses are eligible, with the exception of pure architecture.
  • You must have a home address in Bath &NE Somerset, Somerset, Wiltshire, Gloucestershire or Bristol.

Eligible students will be invited to apply via the academic department early in Semester One.

Ratcliffe Scholarship »
Physics | UK undergraduate

£4,000 per academic year, except placement years.

Eligibility criteria:

  • Open to UK students eligible for home fees with household income under £50,000. All Physics undergraduate courses are eligible.

Eligible students who hold firm or insurance choice offers will be invited to apply via the academic department.

Worth up to £1,000 per academic year.

Eligibility criteria:

  • Open to new undergraduate students commencing on an IET accredited degree programme.

The Range Rover Evoque WISE Scholarship »
Engineering | UK undergraduate female only

This scheme is open to female UK undergraduates commencing studies in 2013 who wish to study for an engineering degree.

The following degree choices are acceptable:

  • Electronic engineering
  • Systems Integration
  • Aeronautical engineering
  • Aerospace engineering

The Leverhulme Trade Charities Trust »
Any subject area | UK undergraduate and postgraduate

Bursaries of up to £3,000 per annum will be granted to full-time, UK undergraduate students and £5,000 per annum to full-time, UK postgraduate students who are in financial need and the son, daughter or partner of a chemist, grocer or commercial traveller.

The Trust awards a bursary on an annual basis for mature students (21 and over) pursuing a full-time undergraduate programme.

RW Barnes Educational Fund »
Engineering, Physics or Mathematics | Undergraduate

Up to £2,500 per academic year, except placement years.

This fund has been set up to offer financial assistance to undergraduate students on programmes of study based on Engineering, Maths or Physics subject to certain criteria and exceptions.
