Getting Here
There are lots of ways you can choose to travel to campus for the Open Day.
Our campus and routes into the city can become very congested with traffic so we recommend you travel by public transport where possible.
You might also want to consider staying overnight on campus - it's a great way to try out the accommodation and have more time to visit the beautiful city of Bath.
Trains
Our nearest train station is Bath Spa. Frequent services run from London, a journey of approximately 90 minutes. Bristol, with connections to the Midlands, the North and the South West is 15 minutes away.
On open days there will be student ambassadors and staff members at the station to direct you to buses and taxis. They will be wearing red T-shirts and badges.
For rail services visit National Rail Enquiries for timetables, fares and cheap advance tickets.
Buses

Buses depart from Dorchester Street, in front of the railway station.
The bus stop for campus is situated directly opposite the bus station, which is to the left as you exit the railway station.
Journey time to the University by bus is approximately 20 minutes, dependent upon traffic.
First Buses
First Group operate the number 18 buses which run at 10 minute intervals during the day.
View the timetable for the open day.
Wessex Connect
U18 UniConnect bus service runs every 10 minutes between the city centre and the University during the week. A less frequent service operates at weekends. Service U10 runs during term time avoiding the city centre.
Park and ride
A direct park and ride service (number 38) will be in operation on the open day. Parking is located in Lansdown, just 3 miles south of Junction 18 of the M4.
Double decker buses with a capacity of 76 people will operate every 20 minutes between the University and the park and ride site.
Return tickets cost £3.20 or you can buy a group ticket for up to 4 people for £7.
The first bus will leave the park and ride for campus at 8.05am and the last bus departs campus back to the park and ride at 4.40pm.
Please note that the service does not stop in Bath city centre.
A member of staff and student ambassador will be at the car park to welcome you.
Park and ride timetable for 20 June 2013.
Directions
- From M4 at junction 18, take the A46 exit to Bath
- At Cold Ashton Roundabout, take the 3rd exit onto A420 (signposted Bristol)
- Turn left at Freezinghill Lane (and follow signs for Lansdown Park & Ride).
By Car
Parking on campus is free during Open Days and we have a large number of parking spaces in our East and West carparks.
There are two entrances to campus for driving directions:
- East entrance on Claverton Down Road, BA2 7PA
- West entrance on Quarry Road, BA2 7AY
There will be staff members and student ambassadors on hand to help you find a space.
Welcome points will be located by the East and West Car Parks.
During open days many of the access roads to the University become very congested. Please allow plenty of time to cross the city.
Road works in and around the city can compound traffic holdups so please check travel news broadcasts.
The main A46 road from the M4 into Bath can become heavily congested so you may find that exiting at junction 17 from the east or travelling into Bath along the A4 from the west leads to fewer delays.
Coaches
Please note there is no provision for coach parking on campus. Coaches should drop visitors at our designated coach drop-off and then depart. Visitors should arrange a pick-up from the same place at a set time.
Coach parking is available at the Riverside Coach Park. Please do not park coaches on local streets.
If you are intending to bring visitors by coach, please contact us giving numbers, size of coaches, time of arrival and contact details so that we are aware of how many to expect.
Visitors with disabilities
If you have a disability, please contact us so we can make arrangements for your visit. You can call us on 01225 385985 or email us at opendays@bath.ac.uk
There are accessible parking spaces reserved in each of the University car parks.
The University car parks operate usual parking restrictions so you will be required to display a permit. For details of accessible parking spaces, please see the campus map.
