London 2012: our story
We will be playing a key role in the summer Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Sports
We have a history of sporting excellence, our teaching and facilities staff are complemented by a team of professional coaches, who work with a wide range of athletes up to Olympic level.
The Olympics
Our sports facilities are accredited as capable of hosting more than 20 sports by the London Organising Committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Our facilities and team of support staff have attracted several Olympic teams for training and we have recently signed an agreement to host the Malaysian Olympic team for training in the run up to the 2012 London Olympics.
Team Bath
Team Bath is the brand name for sport at the University of Bath. It allows us to build links between community, student and elite sporting activities.
Facilities
We want sport to be open to all and have a £30 millon complex of facilities available for use by those of all abilities.
- The Founders Hall - a multi-purpose hall (8 badminton courts, 4 squash courts and 25m swimming pool).
- The Sports Training Village - floodlit 8 lane athletics track, water-based hockey pitch, one all weather pitch, 50m swimming pool, 8 court indoor tennis hall and 8 acrylic and two clay outdoor tennis courts, fitness and conditioning suite, multi-purpose hall (12 badminton courts), 300 sq m judo dojo, 8 fencing pistes, 16 station air pistol range, indoor athletics hall and 132m sprint straight, a bobsleigh/skeleton push track and many rugby and football pitches.
- The Sulis Sports Club - two cricket squares and nets and several rugby pitches.
- The Sports Injury Clinic - physiotherapy and massage services for athletes and the public. Students receive a discounted rate.
- The Human Performance Centre - fitness and physiological testing, strength and conditioning support, sports nutrition advice, sports psychology and video and performance analysis.
Studying sport
We offer an extensive range of programmes at both undergraduate and postgraduate level.

Students' Union Sports Association
The Sports Association is a Students' Union group that exists to provide opportunities for students in sport and exercise. Their ethos is 'Sport for All'.
There are 49 sports clubs and several sports programmes, which allow you to get sporting qualifications, borrow some equipment or get a team together.
