Your Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS)

In order to apply for your Tier 4 visa you need a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) number from us.

It is a unique personal number that you need for your Tier 4 visa application. Your CAS confirms that a specific university is prepared to sponsor you. It will only help you to get a visa for the university who issues you the CAS.

The CAS statement will be sent to you electronically via Application Tracker and/or email; it is not an original document. This will be no earlier than four months before your course start date - you do not need to contact us to start the process.

It is important that you read the conditions that are written on the CAS statement.

Pre-CAS check email

Please make sure that you send a full reply to your pre-CAS check email, with copies of all the documents we have asked you for - we cannot issue a CAS until you have done so.

How do I get my CAS?

  1. When you have met the conditions of your offer and accepted your place at the University, the Admissions Team will send you a pre-CAS check email. This will happen automatically and you do not need to request a CAS.

  2. You will be required to reply in full to the questions asked, provide details of your immigration history, any previous study in the UK and provide a scan of your passport.

  3. If you need an ATAS certificate, you will have already been contacted about this. We will not issue your CAS statement until we have a copy of your ATAS certificate.

  4. If you provide us with the correct information and documents and we are satisfied that you meet Home Office and the University of Bath requirements, we will issue you with a CAS via application tracker and/or email.

  5. If we do not think that you will be able to make a successful visa application, or do not meet the University of Bath requirements it is within our rights to NOT issue you with a CAS.

How long will it take for my CAS to be issued?

It generally takes up to 15 working days after we have received a reply to your pre-CAS check email.

Please note that at certain peak times the CAS processing team are very busy and there may be delays.

To ensure that we can issue your CAS as quickly as possible, please ensure that:

  • your email addresses are up-to-date
  • you read any requests for information carefully and respond in full
  • you provide any documents requested.

We will send you your CAS number by email or through Application Tracker.
