Work and Employment Research Centre - werc

The mission of WERC is to be recognised for international standards in research and scholarship and to demonstrate the value of rigorous, well-founded research. We aim to diffuse research insights in a way that is helpful to researchers and practitioners alike; to encourage applied research on issues of central importance; and to seek to develop the resources required to maintain a critical mass of researchers and research students.

The guiding philosophy, which characterises the Centre's research and activities, is that we conduct (i) multi-disciplinary and (ii) multi-level research which links theory and practice.

The Centre continues to provide strong links between practitioners and academics, and between research activities and teaching at both postgraduate and undergraduate levels. It is governed by both an external and an internal steering group and has three research-practitioner membership groups.
