By algebraic number theory, one can prove the existence of a sequence
of p-groups G(n) such that G(n) modulo its (n-1)st derived subgroup is
isomorphic to G(n-1) and such that the inverse limit of the G(n) is a
finitely presented pro-p group which is not analytic. Such sequences exist
definitely for small p and should exist for all p. Can you give a simple
example?
