The Doctoral Development team in the Doctoral College is looking to appoint a group of doctoral development facilitators to provide support for the upcoming Doctoral Festival of Ideas on Monday 16th, Tuesday 17th and 18th June. This is an excellent opportunity for you to engage with doctoral students and staff, help set a welcoming tone, and showcase your leadership, facilitation and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

The role covers a wide range of responsibilities such as:

  • Facilitating and leading a wide range of events and activities
  • Guiding attendees to the correct locations on campus
  • Event support

A successful candidate should be:

  • Eligible to work in the UK
  • A current doctoral student
  • Confident with facilitating events and speaking publicly
  • Able to interact well with groups of people
  • Able to demonstrate strong customer service skills
  • An excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Enthusiastic can-do attitude and proactive approach to problem solving

Key dates

You must be available for in-person shifts that will take place between the following times on the following days:

  • 14:00 - 16:00, 16th June 2025 (All staff briefing)
  • 08:00 - 17:00, 17th June 2025 (Various shifts)
  • 08:00 - 18:00, 18th June 2025 (Various shifts)

A rota will be set-up in the lead-up to the event to confirm shifts on these days.

Rate of pay

You will be employed as a casual worker 5 (CW5) at £13.88 per hour.
