The Doctoral College is looking to appoint 8-10 doctoral development facilitators to provide support for the upcoming welcome reception on Wednesday 2 October 2024. This is an excellent opportunity for you to engage with new doctoral students, help set a welcoming tone, and showcase your leadership and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Welcome and interact with new doctoral students.
  • Facilitate and lead discussions and activities during the reception.
  • Assist in guiding attendees to the correct locations within the venue.
  • Event support.

Who we are looking for

A successful candidate should meet the following criteria:

  • You must have the eligibility to work in the UK until at least November 2024.
  • Must be a current doctoral student (Year 2 and above).
  • You will feel confident in public speaking.
  • You are able to interact well with groups of people.
  • You should understand what excellent customer service involves.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Enthusiastic can-do attitude and proactive approach to problem solving.

Key dates

You must be available for the following shifts:

  • 13:00-14:00, 25 September 2024 - Online Briefing meeting - 1h
  • 15:00 - 18:30, 2 October 2024 - Event day - 3.5h
  • 13:00 - 14:00, 7 October 2024 - Online Debrief meeting - 1h

Rate of pay

You will be employed as a casual worker 5 (CW5) at £13.24 per hour.
