The University is open on Monday 4 February.

Please ensure you stay safe on your journey, see our guidance on staying safe and well during adverse weather.

Staff who are unable to travel due to conditions in their local area are asked to work from home. If this is the case, you must inform your line manager. For more information please read the guidance on staff attendance during severe weather conditions.

Colleagues from our Department of Estates have done an excellent job over the weekend in clearing and gritting surfaces on campus, however please take care as there is likely still to be some snow and ice and car parks and pavements may be slippery. Health and Safety advice is:

  • walk, don’t run. Wear non-slip footwear. Allow more time for your journey, just as you would if driving
  • try to leave hands free to aid balance and protect against falls
  • stick to footpaths and avoid steep banks and inclines
  • take care when walking or cycling up and down hills.

On no account attempt to walk on areas of frozen water, including the lake, which is extremely hazardous.

If you are off campus, you can still access University systems and applications with your own device.

Students and staff who require an emergency response should call the Security Office on 01225 383999.
