As the new semester approaches, there are some changes taking place in the hospitality and retail outlets on campus.
From mid September, indoor seating is available again as many outlets reopen. We recommend that face coverings are still worn until you are seated.
Meat free outlets
Formerly Parade Bar & Grill, Parade reopens for a trial from 12 noon to 2pm on Wednesday 15 September with a new, meat-free menu.
It will reopen fully on on 27 September as a vegetarian and vegan deli. This is part of our commitment to using sustainably sourced food and reducing the proportion of meat available on campus as part of our efforts to reduce our environmental impact.
It also reflects the high number of requests for more meat-free options that we receive from students.
CAFE at The Edge reopens on 4 October, also with a completely vegetarian and vegan menu.
Continuing to reduce disposable waste
The Exchange cup scheme will operate in all outlets from Monday 27 September, not just The Pitstop and 4W Cafe.
This scheme allows you to buy a reusable coffee cup for £2, or swap it for a token if you don't want to carry it around. This can then be used instead of a disposable cup, to help reduce the amount of waste we send to landfill.
Using an Exchange cup or your own reusable cup gives you a 20p discount on your hot drink. There is a 10p charge for using a disposable cup.
Fresh, the campus supermarket, is increasing its range of foods available from around the world.
A new zero waste 'refillery' has been introduced to the shop, allowing you to purchase various dry goods such as rice, pasta, nuts and cous cous with no plastic packaging.
If you have a TOTUM NUS card, you can now get a 10% discount on many of the products in the store (excluding red meat, sandwiches, alcohol and tobacco). Swipe your card at the till to receive the discount.
