Since October 2012 the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) has awarded the University of Bath nearly £4.1 million, and leveraged funds of more than £10 million, for our Impact Acceleration Account (IAA). This proceeded the Knowledge Transfer Account (KTA) of £3.4 million funding awarded in 2009.

The IAA supports knowledge exchange and impact activities of our EPSRC researchers across the institution. Funds have been invested in speeding up the contribution that research makes towards new innovation across industry, business and the public sector.

As a result of the successful use of funds, the University will received further IAA funding from the EPSRC of nearly £480,000 for the period April 2020 to March 2021.

Funds will be invested in:

  • open call projects
  • activities for emerging commercial projects
  • training and networking
  • supporting culture change

These activities will contribute to strengthening and increasing the number of research collaborations across EPSRC-funded departments at the University, improving the speed and quality of routes to impact.

Professor Jonathan Knight, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Research) says:

We are delighted to receive further funding from the EPSRC for our Impact Acceleration Account (IAA). Previous IAA funding has demonstrated the value of this funding stream in advancing our EPSRC-funded research toward making an impact. We look forward to supporting further projects through the IAA and engaging with external stakeholders in doing so.

New open call funding

All previous EPSRC award-holders are invited to apply for IAA funding for projects which relate to a past EPSRC grant, ideally within a few years of completion.

This competitive award scheme is to stimulate pathways to impact through collaborative research projects that develop new, or build on existing, partnerships with non-university (‘industry’) partners.

The deadline for applications is 4pm Monday 24 February 2020.
