Senate is undertaking a review of its effectiveness; these happen every three-four years. On this occasion, it has set up an Effectiveness Review Steering Group, and appointed an external chair, Professor Rebecca Lingwood of Brunel University London.

Professor Lingwood says "The fundamental purpose of Senate, to uphold the academic quality and standards of the University, is such an important part of the University's governance that it needs to be effective and to operate in ways that reflect the values of the University. The Steering Group is looking foward to engaging with the wider University to review Senate's effectiveness and to make constructive recommendations for changes where needed."

Relevant members of the University community will be invited to complete a survey or participate in a focus group. Further details and updates will appear on the Senate Effectiveness Review 2019/20 web page
