Senate has appointed Dr Alison Nightingale to one of two positions of University Deputy Independent Adviser for Postgraduate Research Students. Expressions of Interest are now invited for the second such position, which is now vacant. We are looking for an academic member of staff with experience in postgraduate research supervision.

Occasionally problems in connection with supervision or other issues may arise. Advice can be sought by PGR students from the University Independent Adviser for PGR Students or a Deputy Independent Adviser.

Discussions with the Independent Advisers are treated in strict confidence and the Independent Advisers will only make disclosures or make contact with others in the University or outside at the student’s request.

The time commitment is ca. 100-150 hours p.a.

Informal enquiries role may be directed to Professor Marcelle McManus, Independent Adviser: or extension 3877.

Expressions of Interest for either role should be made to the University Secretary: by noon on 12 November 2018.

Mark Humphriss, University Secretary
