Health & Safety

We have put H&S measures in place to allow users to access our facilities.

Entrance of a lab

One of the central principles of MC² is to enable users to access as much of our state‑of‑the‑art instrumentation as possible, something that is clearly challenging in the midst of a pandemic. The MC² team have worked hard to open up as much of the equipment as possible by putting in place extra precautions, such as increased hand washing, enabling users to maintain 2m social distancing at all times, and increased cleaning in high contact areas. These measures, notably the 2m distancing, have entailed much reduced occupancy in labs, and often one-way routes in buildings to allow for safer access. We will continue to review our provision as the pandemic, and government advice, evolves.

If you have any concerns please contact Tim Woodman.

Services available

Check the current availability of our services in the table below. Don't hesitate to contact the relevant Instrument Specialist for details about lab access and sample submission.

New ways of training

We are considering and developing new ways of training that respect safety rules but do not jeopardise the quality of knowledge transfer to our users.

If you have any suggestions on how this could be achieved we would be very happy to hear from you. Please let us know your ideas by emailing us at or discussing them with one of the team.
