What happens when we receive a report of a positive test

The actions the University takes when it is informed of a positive Covid-19 test.

When the University receives a report from either a student via our notification form, or from a staff member, we contact them directly to check on their welfare and offer wellbeing support and guidance, including public health advice. We also follow up to check whether staff have been on campus or in University buildings in the two days before experiencing symptoms, and other steps as outlined in our Outbreak Management Plan.

For more information see the section below titled: “Support available for staff and students”.

Support available for staff and students

A summary of the support available to staff and students who have a confirmed case of Covid-19 or need to self-isolate.

When we receive a report that a student or staff member is self-isolating we contact them directly to check on their welfare and offer support and guidance, including public health advice.

For students a University point-of-contact is provided in case they need to get back in touch.

If you live in University managed accommodation then additional support is available, including provision of food and cleaning supplies, waste removal, and support with delivery of post. Entertainment options are also available including online yoga classes, exercise equipment and provision of board games, puzzles and more.

It’s only natural that changing our ways and living with restrictions can cause tension, frustration and anxiety. Now more than ever, we need to talk. If you're a student, you can contact:
