Ede and Ravenscroft Research Staff Prize

Nominate yourself or another member of research staff to win this year's prize.

The Ede and Ravenscroft prize is awarded to a postdoctoral member of research staff for outstanding performance in their duties, recognising the important contribution that research staff make to the University. It is generously funded by Ede and Ravenscroft, appointed robemakers to HM The Queen.

Making a nomination

You can nominate yourself or another member of research staff for the prize.

To be eligible for the award, nominees must be:

  • on a research-only contract
  • in grade 6 or 7

To make a nomination, you need to give details of the research work in terms that can be understood by a non-specialist reader.

You should then submit the form to the Departmental Director of Research so they can comment on the work. After making their comments, they will get the nomination form signed by the Head of Department or Institute Director.

Nominations for the 2019 prize are now closed.

Shortlisting and prize

After the nomination deadline, the Prize Committee will start the shortlisting process.

Prize Committee

The Prize Committee is chaired by the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research) and includes the Associate Deans (Research) and the previous year's winner when available.

The Committee met on Tuesday 7 May 2019 at 2pm to discuss the nominations for the prize. They also judged the shortlisted finalists at a presentation event on Monday 3 June 2019.

Shortlist presentations

If you're shortlisted, you will be invited to give a formal presentation to an open, general audience of members of the research community.

After the presentation, members of the audience are invited to ask questions about your contribution to the research project.

Winner's prize

If you're chosen as the winner, you'll receive £1,000 from Ede and Ravenscroft.
