Cambridge English Certificate

This 10-week course will help you to improve your general English skills. You will improve your vocabulary and grammar and develop your reading, listening, speaking and writing skills.

You will also develop exam-taking strategies like reading and listening for specific information.

You can prepare for three levels:

  • C2 Proficiency (CPE)
  • C1 Advanced (CAE) and
  • B2 First (FCE).

The course is for all undergraduate and postgraduate students and staff who use English as a second language.

Erasumus+, exchange and visiting students can get six credits by completing one of these courses.

Why take a Cambridge English award?

Cambridge English awards are accepted by many academic institutions, professional bodies and employers as a measure of your English level.

Obtaining a Cambridge English award increases your potential to develop your academic career and employability.

Cambridge English awards last a lifetime. You can take a Cambridge English award exam at the University of Bath in May.


Before signing up for a course please make sure that the day and time do not clash with your academic timetable using your MyTimetable.

You will need to register for and take a placement test so you can be put in the most suitable class for you.

Once you have taken the placement test, your teacher will give you the details of the course book that you need to buy (course requirement).
