We can help you improve your English language and prepare you for the Cambridge English exam.
This 10-week course will help you to improve your general English skills. You will improve your vocabulary and grammar and develop your reading, listening, speaking and writing skills.
You will also develop exam-taking strategies such as reading and listening for specific information.
You can prepare for three levels:
The course is for all undergraduate and postgraduate students and staff who use English as a second language.
Erasmus+, exchange and visiting students can get six credits by completing one of these courses.
How to enrol for the Semester 2 course
You will need to register for and take a placement test so you can be put in the most suitable class for you. The deadline for completing the placement test is 1 February 2021.
Once you have taken the placement test, your teacher will give you the details of a course book that you have to buy. Completion of set homework and preparation for classes is also a course requirement.
Classes will start from 9 February 2021. They will either be 2 x 90-minute lessons or 1 x 180-minute lesson a week and will take place on Microsoft Teams. Depending on demand for the courses, these are the possible times:
- Tuesdays and Thursdays: 11.15am-12.45pm – attendance required for both lessons or
- Tuesdays and Thursdays: 6.15pm-7.45pm – attendance required for both lessons or
- Wednesdays: 2.15pm-5.15pm

Optional Cambridge English exam
Cambridge English exams are accepted by many academic institutions, professional bodies and employers as a measure of your English level. Taking a Cambridge English exam increases your potential to develop your academic career and employability. The qualification lasts a lifetime.
We have previously offered the opportunity to take a Cambridge English exam at the University of Bath and we hope to do so again in the future, though this will depend on the on-going Covid situation. Further details will be published here in due course.
