Funding for new doctoral students in humanities and management is available from the ESRC South West Doctoral Training Partnership.

Funding for doctoral students

If you are applying for doctoral study in humanities or management, you may be eligible for funding from the ESRC South West Doctoral Training Partnership.

The ESRC is the UK's largest organisation for funding research on economic and social issues. Studentships are available for discipline specific study or interdisciplinary study that will involve collaboration with a partner institution.

Studentship value

Funding lasts for up to three years of full-time study or part-time equivalent. This includes:

  • tuition fees
  • training support fund £750 per annum
  • maintenance stipend £15,609 per annum (2021/22 rate)

This award is open to all applicants (Home and International); however, in line with guidance from UK Research and Innovation (UKRI), the number of awards available to International students will be limited to 30% of the total.

Studentships available: Approximately 45 across the partnership.

Funding availability for international candidates is not yet confirmed. If you do not meet the above criteria, we can currently only accept your application if you can fully self-fund your studies, although this is under review and could change. Further details will be posted here when available.
