Introduction to Climate Action & Sustainability at Bath

An introductory workshop suitable for all staff to share with you latest climate and sustainability work at the University, and how you can be involved.

Course overview

This 1-hour course is suitable for all members of staff. Sessions run three times during the academic year.


The University has made ambitious commitments to take action tackling the climate emergency and sustainability challenges, and we all have a part to play in delivering them. In this course, we will share with you a brief insight to the University’s whole-institution approach to tackling climate change as well as sharing about our commitments and vision for sustainability.

Topics covered will include:

  • work being undertaken within education, research, operations and through partnerships
  • our vision for sustainability at Bath
  • recent successes and ongoing challenges
  • how you can be part of transformational change

Course structure

  • This course will be delivered on campus as an in-person event over a one-hour session
  • There is no pre-work required as part of this course but we suggest looking through the resources linked below

Who should attend?

As an introductory course, content in this session will be suitable for all role types and job levels at the University. Teams or departments interested in bespoke training should contact climateaction@bath.ac.uk to discuss further.

Discussing your learning and development with your line manager

We assume that if you need permission or agreement to attend this course you will have arranged this before booking. To ensure the training is suitable and your learning can be transferred back to the workplace, you should also have discussed the following with your line manager:

  • how this training will help to deliver your individual/team goals
  • the expected outcomes (what is expected to change or improve as a result)
  • any support required post-course to enable you to transfer your learning back to the workplace

Your manager will receive an automated notification when you book or cancel a place on a course using ESS.
