Develop a strong foundation in the theory and practice of data science, and learn specialist skills in statistics.

You’ll learn strong statistical foundations of universal relevance as well as gain expertise in statistics and probabilistic modelling, including the design, collection, analysis and presentation of data. You’ll also study machine learning techniques and software technologies central to putting this knowledge into practice, addressing the challenges of small and large data sets.

You'll study in a research-led department within a supportive postgraduate community. You’ll be using our bespoke computer laboratory and with our strong links to industry in the UK and abroad you'll be exposed to the latest ideas and technology.

Entry requirements

To apply for this course from India, you need to have a bachelor’s degree with a final overall result of at least a First Class. Your undergraduate degree may be in a programme that incorporates a strong element of both mathematics and computing such as mathematics, computer science, physics, chemistry, engineering or economics. We will also consider other subjects, for example geography or biology, which might also meet the criteria depending on their specific mathematical and programming content.

We are offering one full tuition fee scholarship to a master's student from India. To apply, you must hold an offer to study on one of our MSc courses and apply for the scholarship by 27 April 2020.

2-year Post-Study Work visa

As an overseas, fee-paying postgraduate student, applying by 17 June, you are guaranteed accommodation. You could apply to live on-campus, in our brand new dedicated accommodation for postgraduate students, or in town.

Living in Bath as a student

Studying at Bath means you'll live in a vibrant, friendly, historic city, with lots of activities for you to join. You can go on nights out, get active, treat yourself by going to Britain's only natural thermal spa or a boat trip along the river.

You'll be able to meet other postgraduate students through the Postgraduate Association, which organises regular events.

There's also the Bath Asian Society, which is one of the biggest cultural societies on campus. They organise events to enjoy and explore South Asian cultures.

We'll assign you a personal tutor to support you in your studies. Your tutor will guide you in your academic progress and support your personal and professional development throughout your time here.
