About our sessions

You can select from a range of one-off sessions that can help you to develop your academic writing.

You can take a diagnostic test that will help you choose a session to suit your needs.

You can see the times and dates of the sessions by looking at the tables at the bottom of the page.

You can choose and enrol for sessions that are appropriate for science or humanities students.

Planning and organising your assignment

This session will help you understand how to present your writing in formal academic style.

Writing introductions and conclusions

This session will help you learn how to capture the readers' interest in your writing and how to present clear conclusions to your arguments.

Paragraph writing

In this session you will learn how to link ideas to make the theme clear in a paragraph.

Referencing and plagiarism

In this session you will discover how to cite and acknowledge sources appropriately in your academic writing.

Summarising and paraphrasing sources

In this session you will learn how to restate and condense information to make your academic writing clearer.

This session will help you understand how to make your writing easier to read by linking ideas and paragraphs.

In this session will you discover how to analyse evidence from your reading to help you state clear arguments in your academic writing.

In this session you will learn about the conventions of academic writing style including formality, objectivity, and being precise.

Scientific style

In this session you will learn about the conventions of scientific writing style including objectivity, being concise, and avoiding ambiguity.

Proofreading

This session will help you understand how to re-read and edit your own academic writing to make sure it is clear and accurate.
