Probation Induction Workshop

A bi-annual workshop to inform newly appointed Lecturers and Teaching Fellows about their probation requirements and support available across the organisation.

Workshop purpose

The aim of the Probation Induction Workshop is to provide you with an overview of probation arrangements and helpful tips on how you can prepare for your own probation and future career progression.

At the Probation Induction Workshop, you will have the opportunity to hear from a range of different speakers on the following subjects:

  • understanding the probationary arrangements

  • the University's perspective on your contribution to the Bath vision and strategy

  • support you can expect during your probation period

  • expectations of you from your Department/Division and Faculty/School

  • developing objectives to reflect the performance expectations of probation

  • support available from professional services teams

Who should attend

The Probation Induction Workshop is open to all newly appointed Lecturers and Teaching Fellows.

Specifically those groups required to:

  • undertake a three year probation period (Lecturers)

  • undertake a one year probation period (Teaching Fellows)

For individuals undertaking a six-month probation period, you will be advised of requirements and support by your line manager and guidance is available on the probation webpage.

Newly appointed Academic Heads of Department/Division and Prize Fellows about to progress to Lectureships are also welcome to attend.

Register your place

The Probation Induction Workshop runs twice a year at the start of each semester and it is recommended that you register a place at the first workshop taking place after you start at the University.
