Santander Entrepreneurship Fund

Win up to £2,000 in seed funding for your business.

Are you a student or recent graduate looking to take your business to the next level? The Santander Entrepreneurship Fund is your opportunity to tap into support, expertise and resources to grow and scale your business.

Funded by Santander Universities, the Entrepreneurship Fund will provide up to £2,000 equity-free funding to support your business. You can bid into the fund for the amount that you require to unlock growth for your business and will state this in your application form.

For example, you could use the award to help:

  • set up your business
  • purchase initial stock supply
  • advance your market research and early sales
  • reach more milestones that are unique to your business

The funding cannot be used to cover recurring expenses. Instead, it should be used for one-off costs and purchases that are crucial to your business's development.

It is preferred that funding is not used to cover travel expenses. However, some cases may be considered, for example where it is evidenced that the proposed travel is essential for the advancement of the business.

Eligibility

Check if you meet the criteria for entry.

  • You must be a current student or recent graduate from the University of Bath. Funding is available to undergraduate, postgraduate taught, and postgraduate research students and individuals who graduated no earlier than July 2019.

  • You must arrange a suitable time during May 2020 to speak with Remy Foucher (Relationship Manager) from Santander Universities to discuss your business.
  • Your business must already be promoting, making sales or gaining users. You don’t have to be incorporated as a business, but you must have a public-facing presence (e.g. website, working prototype).
  • You must not have exceeded £250,000 total in funding or investments from any source.

Please note:

As part of the Santander Entrepreneurship Fund, the University has to report to Santander UK and provide them with certain information about the students and graduates that they support as part of the programme. If you are successful in securing funding, the University will share your application with Santander UK, as well as subsequent reports that you provide.

The University also requires the successful applicants to contribute to blogs and social media for the Department of Development & Alumni Relations.
