Volunteer to help our research into improving female student-athletes’ wellbeing

We are looking for people to support our research into the effectiveness of micro-interventions designed to improve wellbeing among female student-athletes.

Research has shown that student-athletes represent a unique yet highly vulnerable population when it comes to body dissatisfaction.

Despite these concerns, and widespread research into promoting positive body image in other groups, there remains a gap in understanding this specific population.

This study aims to investigate whether brief, targeted actions — known as micro-interventions — focusing on body functionality appreciation and self-compassion are effective approaches.

We will assess the feasibility of delivery, the acceptability of these intervention approaches to student-athletes, and their preliminary effects on body image, to inform further evaluation.

We hope this research will help identify appropriate and practical methods for addressing body dissatisfaction and its negative consequences in this at-risk yet underrepresented population.
