About the Warm Welcome Scholarship Scheme

The University of Bath is participating in the Warm Welcome Scholarship Scheme, co-funded by the Department for Education and participating Higher Education Providers, and delivered by the British Council.


The Warm Welcome Scholarship Scheme aims to provide financial assistance to eligible scholars in the UK with links to Afghanistan.

We have 4 x full scholarships available for new students studying a full-time, postgraduate taught master's course or PhD programme starting in the 2022/23 academic year (September/October 2022).

  • 3 x postgraduate taught master’s scholarships (full-time, one year)
  • 1 x PhD scholarship (full-time, up to three years)

Scholarship awards include a full tuition fee waiver and quarterly stipend payments (paid directly to you) to help cover accommodation and living expenses.


Eligibility criteria

Find out if you are eligible to apply for a Warm Welcome Scholarship.


To apply for a scholarship, you must be planning to apply, or have applied, to study a full-time, postgraduate taught master's course or PhD programme starting in the 2022/23 academic year (starting September/October 2022).

You are eligible to apply if you fall into one of the following categories:

  • Afghanistan Relocations and Assistance Policy (ARAP) resettlement route
  • Afghanistan Citizens Resettlement Scheme (ACRS) resettlement route
  • Those with links to Afghanistan who are already registered at a UK university and are experiencing financial hardship due to the situation in Afghanistan
  • Afghan British Nationals (ABNs), described for these purposes as those that were evacuated during Operation Pitting and who entered bridging accommodation or who presented as homeless to a council, but hold British citizenship or some other status that permits them to remain and reside in the UK without the need to be granted leave to remain
