Aims & Learning Objectives: Aims: to enable trainees to * be informed and competent ELT practitioners, able to make decisions in complex and unpredicatble situations; * contribute professionally to the world of ELT by taking initiatives and assuming personal responsibility in challenging professional practice through greater understanding of current issues in ELT; * access a wider range of possibilities for continiung professional development. Learning Objectives: On completion of this programme participants will be able to demonstrate * a systematic and conceptual understanding that enables them to evaluate methodology relting to ELT and develop critiques of these and where appropriate to propose new hypotheses; * a conceptual understanding that enables students to evaluate critically current ELT theory and practice; * a critical awareness of current problems and/or new insights, at the forefront of ELT research and practice; * originality in the application of this knowledge. Content: Understanding, knowledge and awareness of language Background to teaching and learning in English at adult level Working in the classroom Evaluation, monitoring and assessment. |
