Requisites:
Aims: This unit aims to highlight contemporary sport as a highly commercialised industry. It is designed to map the impact of commercial forces such as professionalism, media and globalisation on the ways sport is currently organised and managed. In addition, it highlights the positive and negative influences of commercialism on sport, coaches, athletes and spectators.
Learning Outcomes:
After completing this unit the students will:
* Understand the role of commercial business in supporting, promoting and undermining sport and the sport experience
* Understand the main aspects that influence the management of professional sports
* To evaluate the negatives and positives of the current sport industry.
