More complex language structures are introduced and practised, such as relative clauses and additional functionality of verbs. Reading and listening material on new topic areas will help students extend their passive vocabulary. Topics of general interest and cultural relevance will be presented, helping students to express and dispute opinions and to encourage spontaneous responses. The course significantly extends the students' passive knowledge of Chinese characters.
