Aims: To develop knowledge of the theory, legal issues, ethical aspects and influences upon prescribing.
Learning Outcomes: By the end of the unit the student will be able to: 1) Demonstrate an understanding of the underlying theory behind supplementary and independent prescribing and those ethical issues which impact upon it. (knowledge and understanding). 2) Critically evaluate influences on prescribing practice at individual, local and national levels. 3) Develop and document a clinical management plan within the context of a prescribing partnership. 4) Appraise the legal and professional framework for accountability and responsibility in relation to supplementary and independent prescribing. 5) Demonstrate self-direction and continue to advance their knowledge and understanding to high levels.
