Description:
Aims & Learning Objectives:
To acquaint the student with a range of material relating to the chosen topic. To foster research skills and independent learning. On completion of the course, the student should be able to demonstrate:-Advanced knowledge in the chosen field Evidence of independent learning An ability to initiate mathematical/statistical research An ability to read critically and master an advanced topic in mathematics/statistics/probability to the extent of being able to expound it in a coherent, well-argued dissertation Competence in a document preparation language to the extent of being able to typeset a dissertation with substantial mathematical/statistical content
