Click here for further information Description: Aims:
To provide an opportunity for students to see examples of conservation skills and practical project work. To provide a body of experience which will enable students to make decisions about which of the methods taught in the other units to apply in particular situations in order to manage the complexity of historic sites effectively. Practitioners need to be able to solve real problems by balancing conflicting issues or priorities and reach considered conclusions on the ground within budgets and programme and this will be achieved through theory, practice and live project examples.

Learning Outcomes:
Students successfully completing this unit will be able to:
* apply theoretical knowledge to an applied situation.
* assimilate and integrate material from the corresponding taught units to tackle the case study.

Skills:
Written communication, oral communication, problem solving, working independently - taught, facilitated and assessed.

Content:
Each case study will comprise lectures, seminars and / or a visit, and will cover the philosophy upon which the conservation work is based, the principles involved and a study of the techniques and technologies employed. The case studies will change depending on current conservation project activity.
