To provide an understanding of the exciting new advances in Gene regulation and eukaryotic cell differentiation.

Learning Outcomes:
After taking this course the student should be able to:
* Explain modulation of gene expression at various levels.
* Explain the molecular basis of the coordinated regulation of cell proliferation and differentiation.
* Explain the molecular and biochemical basis of cell differentiation and lineage commitment.

Content:
This will be a student seminar and discussion course.
The topics include regulation of gene expression in differentiation, chromatin remodelling, transcription factors, phosphorylation and dephosphorylation and acetylation and deacetylation, in regulating gene expression, post-transcriptional control and function of microRNAs.
