To develop awareness of current initiatives relating to physical education, youth sport and health and evaluate the impact on community sport.

Learning Outcomes:
To be able to:
* Describe current initiatives, for example, PESSCL and High Quality PE and School Sport;
* Evaluate the effectiveness and impact of current initiatives relating to PE, sport and health;
* Distinguish between traditional and developing roles of the PE teacher and coach;
* Explain the principles involved in the evaluation of physical education/sport initiatives;
* Reflect critically on the effectiveness and impact of current initiatives.

* PESSCL (Physical Education School Sport Club Links) strategy
* High Quality PE and School Sport (HQPESS)
* Community sport - the role of community sport coaches
* The role of NGBs- the link between school and talent identification/ development
* National competition framework for school aged children
* School clubs links
* Developing life long participation
* Leadership and volunteering
* School Sport Partnerships (SSPs)
* Principles of analysis and evaluation.
