Click here for further information Description: Aims:
To design a research project in the field of childhood, youth and education studies.

Learning Outcomes:
In completing this unit, students will have:
* Developed an appropriate 'Introduction' section comprising a definitive problem statement, justification, and, rationale for the study;
* Placed their proposed research within the social, political, economic and educational context;
* Sought out, and written, a section that locates their project amongst previous scholarship;
* Developed a section that justifies, outlines and discusses the planned methodological approach.

* Comprehensive and scholarly written communication (e.g. essays) F/A
* Ability to select, analyse and present numerical data. A
* Ability to select, summarise and synthesis written information from multiple sources. F/A
* Ability to develop rigorous arguments through precise use of concepts and models. F/A
* Ability to select and use appropriate ideas to produce a coherent response to a pre-set question. F/A
* Ability to formulate a research question, then develop and present an original & coherent answer. F/A
* Ability to produce work to agreed specifications and deadlines. A
* Ability to work effectively as part of a group or team. F/A

Content:
The unit is an independent research unit. Emphasis will be placed upon the development of an independent research project. Support will be provided throughout the semester by the unit leader and through facilitation of a network of assigned tutors. Electronic support will be available on Moodle. Students will be required to discuss and agree an overall project design with their respective tutors.
