To create an understanding of the key issues and constraints faced by many of the poorer countries.

Learning Outcomes:

* be able to critically appraise the theoretical models and empirical methods applied in Development Economics;
* have sufficient skills to critically appraise policy instruments and recommendations;
* be able to understand and identify key problems and constraints faced by developing economies.
