The course aims to help students access increasingly more demanding reading and listening material.

Learning Outcomes:
On completion of the course students will be able to
* Give clear detailed descriptions and presentations on a wide range of subjects related to their field of interest expanding and supporting ideas with subsidiary points and examples
* Understand the gist and some detail of recorded or broadcast audio material on topics of personal and general interest and on current affairs when the delivery is relatively slow and clear and delivered in standard dialect
* Access more demanding authentic texts with the help of a dictionary
* Produce short descriptive and narrative texts, and write formal and informal letters.

Speaking, Reading, Listening and Writing in the target language - all assessed
Interpersonal skills, communication, team skills - facilitated

Topics of general interest and cultural relevance will be discussed, helping students to express and dispute opinions and to encourage spontaneous responses.
