This clinical module aims to update underpinning knowledge cardiovascular disease management and therapeutics.

Learning Outcomes:
On completion of this unit students will be able to:
1. Explain the classification, pathophysiology, symptoms and diagnostic tools for a range of conditions in cardiovascular disease, specifically hypertension, ischaemic heart disease (IHD), angina, unstable angina (UA) and acute coronary syndrome (ACS), myocardial infarction (MI), secondary prevention of coronary heart disease, heart failure and arrhythmias.
2. Describe the process of disease progression from stable angina to unstable angina (UA) to acute coronary syndrome (ACS) to myocardial infarction (MI).
3. Describe the process of disease progression and treatment of two other cardiac disorders i.e. heart failure and arrhythmias.
4. Describe and critically evaluate the classes of medicines used to manage the above disease states in terms of indications, side effect profiles, adverse reaction monitoring parameters, appropriate dosing regimen and other medicines management issues.
5. Complete and critically reflect upon pharmaceutical care plans for specific patients suffering from the above conditions.
6. Conduct an audit of a patients' therapeutic management in a specific disease area and present the findings.
7. Evaluate available evidence and information to make recommendations to prescribers to optimize therapeutic management of these patients.
