* To provide students with a critical understanding of globalisation, regionalisation and the interface of social and economic policy;
* To provide students with a critical understanding of socio-economic insecurity, its determinants and policies to reduce it
* To provide students with a critical understanding of international standard setting and regulation with a bearing on socio-economic insecurity.

Learning Outcomes:

* to research and write position papers on issues of globalisation, regionalisation and the interface of social and economic policy;
* to research and write position papers on international standard setting and governance in a variety of social and economic domains.

Content:
The unit involves an apprenticeship in research in comparative/supranational social policy, with appropriate contextual teaching provided.
