The aim of this unit is to explore the interrelationships between leadership, management and organisational change in healthcare delivery and with governance issues and service design, redesign and operation.

Learning Outcomes:
Knowledge and Understanding
After taking this unit the student should be able to:
* Critically evaluate of the key elements of leadership, management and organisational change and their impact on effective healthcare delivery.
These learning outcomes will be taught and assessed.

Skills:
On completion of this unit students should be able to:
* Use their knowledge of leadership management and organisational change to promote and develop information governance practice
* Plan and execute a strategy for introducing changing work practices Plan and manage their learning through reflecting on and analysing their own learning needs.
* Integrate and critically evaluate information gathered from a wide range of resources including the unit resources, text books, journal articles, web pages and other online resources. An appreciation for a hierarchy of evidence should be displayed.
* Communicate effectively with colleagues and tutors including through asynchronous online discussions.
These learning outcomes will be facilitated and some may be assessed.

Content:
Modern Healthcare delivery demands effective teamwork between a number of healthcare professionals and other professional groups. Information Governance leads organisational change through developing systems and process in line with overall information governance development, guidance and legislation and also plays an important part in relation to organisational change through national and local projects. The unit will specifically explore:
* the operational, strategic and clinical management skills needed to develop the Information Governance Agenda.
* the management and leadership skills and processes needed to implement, and monitor the effectiveness of, the Information Governance Toolkit.
* the principles and strategies for effecting change and the need to engage and involve staff in this process
* the role of organisational change for ensuring the development of a learning organisation for ongoing quality improvement.
