The intention of this unit is to:
* To provide students with an introduction to the role that psychological factors play in work-related behaviours.
* To cover core topics such as leadership, organisational learning; occupational health, safety & well-being, communication, group decision making, culture/cultural change; power, motivation, and group productivity and performance.

Learning Outcomes:
In completing this unit students would be expected to:
* Critically evaluate the ways in which psychological factors can affect organisational behaviour.
* Critically evaluate how psychologists conduct research in organisations.
* Be able to utilise their knowledge to discuss issues in organisational psychology.

Skills:

* Comprehensive and scholarly written communication (e.g. essays) [e.g. F/A]
* Ability to select, summarise and synthesise written information from multiple sources
* Ability to develop rigorous arguments through precise use of concepts and models
* Ability to apply organisational theory into workplace practice
* Ability to select and use appropriate ideas to produce a coherent response to a pre-set question
* Ability to produce work to agreed specifications and deadlines
* Ability to work independently, without close supervision or guidance. Content:The course will cover key areas of organisational psychology. The following are a list of possible areas:
* Leadership
* Occupational health, workplace safety and well-being
* Man-made disasters and hazard-risk management systems
* Climate, culture(s) and cultural change interventions
* Communication - including managing public concerns
* Group decision making - including risk decision making
* Power
* Motivation and performance.
