Further information on descriptions Description: Aims:
The aim of this unit is to provide students with an understanding to the theory of banking, based on an economic analysis of their activities. This will allow students to obtain a sound theoretical framework in which to analyze and explain actual events in banking.

Learning Outcomes:
By the end of this unit, the student should be able to:
* analyze the competition between banks;
* evaluate the lending contract between banks and their customers;
* assess the susceptibility of banks to financial fragility;
* analyze the conflicts of interest between customers and banks.

This unit covers a wide range of topics in commercial and investment banking, providing an economic analysis of the following topics:
* the role of banks in the economy;
* competition between banks;
* debt contracts and credit rationing;
* regulation of banks;
* advisory in M&A;
* underwriting IPOs;
* advising clients on investments.
