This unit aims to introduce students to the main principles of sport development, policy and management in Britain.

Learning Outcomes:
At the completion of this unit the student will:
* Understand the socio-economic, cultural and educational context of the sport industry (public & private) locally and nationally;
* Understand the basic principles of sport development through a range of local and national case studies;
* Understand the influence of the private sphere (media, sponsorship, marketing, advertising, athlete representation);
* Understand the contemporary sport and social policy framework within Britain.
