Further information on descriptions Description: Aims:
Students will be introduced to the international dimensions of organisational behaviour, using a range of related concepts, theories and examples. Through lectures, group work and readings, they will develop an in-depth appreciation of the critical factors that influence individual behaviour and social relations in multinational corporations (MNCs) and other forms of international organisations. More specifically, students will develop an understanding of the strategies, structures, processes, policies and practices that enable the more or less successful management of organisational, group and individual level dynamics in an international context.

Learning Outcomes:
By the end of this unit, the student should be able to:
* display a sound understanding of approaches to international dimensions of organisational behaviour and management;
* relate debates and ideas on globalisation, international organisations and management across national borders;
* appraise models and evidence critically;
* explain how the international environment shapes the organisational dynamics in multinational organisations;
* define and illustrate key concepts relevant to management and organisation in an international context;
* describe and give examples of organisational policies and practices, relating text to real life scenarios and problems;
* evaluate and interpret new information and theory, engage in problem solving, demonstrate ability to think logically, critically and practically.

Skills:
Intellectual skills:
* facility to apply subject-specific knowledge to a range of complex organisational and international business situations (TFA);
* critical awareness of current issues and frameworks in management and organisational behaviour (FA);

Content:
The unit covers the core themes and perspectives in international management and organisation. The unit consists of two analytical sections: "the international context of organisation", where the content will cover issues relevant to the international environment and strategic orientation of organisations in a globalised economy; and "the organisational dynamics and behaviours", where the content will cover issues relating to the management of people and social relations in international organisations.
