Further information on descriptions Description: Aims:
1. To complete a work placement (minimum of 30 weeks) with an organisation, either in the UK or overseas, most typically in some sort of human resource management, policy, research or evaluation setting.
2. To provide a potential basis for the final year dissertation
3. To develop critical, analytical problem-based learning skills and the transferable skills to prepare the student for graduate employment or further study.
4. To enhance the development of the students' interpersonal skills.
5. To assist the student to develop the skills required for both autonomous and team work.

Learning Outcomes:
By the end of the unit the students should be able to:
* Apply their academic knowledge to a practical work setting;
* Reflect on how their work experience relates to the knowledge gained at University.

Content:
The content of placements is very varied. Most students who do placements in this department are doing a degree in sociology with human resource management and these students typically find placements in HR departments of large organisations. Other students find research and/or policy placements with organisations such as the Metropolitan police and the Welsh Government, or in NGOs and charities in the UK or abroad . In addition, students are able to work in business-related placements within commercial companies and teaching-related placements within schools and colleges.
