Description: | Aims: To introduce students to key concepts, approaches and vocabulary in the field of employee relations; to examine structures and institutions of employment relations in a comparative context, focusing particularly on Spain and Britain; to explore cultural differences and similarities influencing employment relations and the possible impact of Europeanisation. After following this course, the student will be familiar with the broad structures of employment relations in Spain and Britain, have a good understanding of basic terminology used in this field, and be able to make informed comparisions between the two national situations. Content: (1) Historical/cultural setting of employee relations. (2) Interest representation. (3) Collective bargaining. (4) The future of trade unions and employee representation. |
