Description: | Aims: * To further enhance the production of authentic and accurate written and spoken German; * To consolidate students' knowledge of more complex grammatical structures; * To apply advanced skills to the production of a variety of German texts; * To develop further in depth communication skills; * To progress further in oral proficiency and aural comprehension. Learning Outcomes: On successful completion of this unit, students will be able to: * Manipulate a broader range of lexis, grammatical structures and syntax; * Apply more accurate and advanced written and spoken communicative skills; * Demonstrate more sound awareness of style and linguistic register; * Show better cultural awareness. Skills: The following skills will be developed further from semester one: * Precision and creativity in the use of written and spoken language; * Effective communication in the target language; * Independent learning strategies; * Adaptation to life in the target countries (preparation for year abroad). Content: * Written language: Selected advanced grammar points, essay writing techniques, summary and creative writing. * Spoken language: Audio-visual material, presentations, debates, role plays, conversation, interview techniques. |
