![]() | Aims: To introduce students to a mathematical basis to support computer science in general and other computer science units in particular. Learning Outcomes: On completion of the unit, the students will be able to: 1. Calculate with the rudiments of linear algebra. 2. Reason about series to the point of Taylor/Maclaurin expansions. 3. Use appropriate software tools for linear algebra and calculus. Skills: Application of Number (T/F,A), Problem Solving (T/F,A). Content: Linear Algebra elementary matrices and vectors, Gaussian elimination, inverses, determinants, Eigenvalues and Eigenvectors, equations of lines and planes in space. Series: sequences and series, convergence, real numbers, derivatives, absolute convergence, comparison and integral tests, Taylor/Maclaurin series. |
