Description: | Aims: The aim of this unit is to introduce the key practical, theoretical and conceptual elements of high performance sporting environments. Students will experience a variety of sports through a series of practical coaching and observation sessions designed to explore the components (and associated factors) of the high performance environment. The unit will also challenge students to consider the nature of (and the interaction) between coaching practice and components associated with high performance environments. Learning Outcomes: On successful completion of this unit students will be able to: * Outline and evaluate key practical, theoretical and conceptual elements of high performance sporting environments. * Discuss the application of sport science support to a range of practical sporting situations and high performance environments. * Demonstrate improved personal competence in a range of practical sporting situations Skills: Knowledge and understanding - taught, facilitated and assessed Practical demonstration - taught, facilitated and assessed Written communication - facilitated and assessed Problem solving - facilitated and assessed Reflection skills - taught and facilitated Content: Theoretical and conceptual elements of the high performance environment will be presented, examined and explored to establish their application to practical sporting environments. Students will gain insight into the demands associated with working within high performance sporting environments via sessions led by elite coaches and sport science practitioners from a range of high performing sports. Students will experience practical coaching and observation sessions, delivered by elite coaches, linking theoretical content to practical environments. Personal performance will be enhanced by the teaching and subsequent practice of tactics and strategies geared to the need of each individual. | In taking this module you cannot take HL10184 |
