Further information on descriptions Description: Aims:
The aim of this unit is to develop the student's appreciation of a variety of perspectives on leadership and management of in the context of change. Such an appreciation includes an understanding of the academic literature, as befits a higher degree, but also the practical knowledge and skills required to bring about organizational change and thrive in changing times. Thus we will be concerned with both the thinking and doing of change in organizational contexts. To achieve this, we link theory to practice through discussion, lecture, group work and independent research.

Learning Outcomes:
By the end of this unit, the student should have/be able to:
* an understanding of organisational change, the context in which it operates and how change can be effectively led;
* the facility to apply subject-specific knowledge into a range of change situations;
* a conceptual understanding of theoretical concepts and frameworks that enables the student to meaningfully link the theory with the practice of organisational change.

Critical thinking - facilitated and assessed.
Research skills - facilitated and assessed.

The course links theory to practice by considering a number of approaches, concepts, models and frameworks linked to leading and managing change. For example, it will consider, among others, sensemaking, narrative, micro-political, and cultural perspectives on change.
